ENVIRONMENT AND PLACE WICH THE STORY TAKES PLACE: The story takes place in Verona in 1303.
PLOT SUMMARY: Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story where the two main characters are supposed to be swarn enemies but fall in love. Due to their families ‘ ongoing conflict, they cannot cope being separated from one another.
IMPORTANT SCENES: When the lovers meet for the first time (act 1 scene 4), Romeo risks death to meet Juliet again (act 2 scene 1), the wedding is held in secret (act 2 scene 5), Romeo angrily kills Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt (act 3 scene 1), the friar suggests a dangerous solution (act 4 scene 1), Juliet is found “dead” (act 4 scene 4), Romeo learns of the tragedy and plans suicide (act 5 scene 1)
MAIN CHARACTERS: -Romeo, the son and heir of Montague and Lady Montague, a young man of about sixteen. He’s handsome, intelligent and sensitive. -Juliet, the daughter of Capulet and Lady Capulet. She’s a beautiful thirteen-year-old girlwho begins the play as a naive child who has though little about love and marriage. -Friar Lawrence, fiend to both Romeo and Juliet. He’s kind, a proponent of moderation and always ready with a plan. -Mercutio, a kinsman to the Prince and Romeo’s close friend. -Juliet’s nurse, the woman who brest-fed Juliet when she was a baby and has cared for Juliet her entire life. -Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin on her mother’s side. He was vam, fashionableand then he becomes aggressive and violent. -Capulet, the patriarch of the Capulet family, father of Juliet and husband of Lady Capulet. -Lady Capulet, Juliet’s mother, a woman who got married young and she gave birth to Juliet who was almost fourteen. -Montague, Romeo’s father. -Lady Montague, Romeo’s mother.
SOUNDTRACK: There are fourteen soundtracks, like “Local God” or “Angel”.
TECHNIQUES USED: The show was represented in the Elizabeth Theatre, where there were no screenplays and few techniques were used to make the showroom special.
PERSONAL EVALUATION: I believe that Romeo and Juliet is a wonderful work. I love the contrast between the tragedy and the desire of the two to continue to love each otherdespite the difficulties. I don’t think this masterpiece has flaws.
